Herbert L. Blatt, M.D., J.D., F.A.C.S., F.A.A.O., F.A.C.L.M.

Dr. Blatt is a Board Certified Ophthalmologist (Eye M.D.), as well as a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a Fellow of the College of Legal Medicine. In addition, he is a member of several other medical and surgical societies, including the Georgia Society of Ophthalmology and the Medical Association of Georgia.  He is also a WellStar affiliated physician.

Dr. Blatt received his Medical Degree from Temple University in Philadelphia and then performed a year’s residency training in internal medicine at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, followed by a three-year residency in ophthalmology at Thomas Jefferson University/Will’s Eye Hospital, in Philadelphia.

Next, following his cornea fellowship training in snowy Rochester, New York, he was a clinical associate professor of ophthalmology at the University of Rochester Strong
Memorial Hospital while in private practice.  Upon moving his practice to sunny Georgia, he was also on the clinical teaching staff of Emory University and the Veteran’s Administration Hospital.

He also has graduated from Georgia State University with a degree of Juris Doctor (a law degree).

Dr. Blatt received his bachelor’s degree and graduated with honors in mathematics.  He taught for three years while studying for a Master’s degree in Microbiology.

His interests include undersea medicine and aviation medicine; he is an Aviation Medical Examiner and performs flight physicals.

Other interests include his family, art, drawing, animation, and martial arts.
